Unico Modena Side Panel The Unico Modena Side Panel is a clever addition to your Thule or Fiamma cassette awning.

The Unico Modena Side Panel has been specially developed for campers who want to expand their Thule or Fiamma cassette awning with additional shelter and significantly more usable living space. Its clever design combines ease of use and functionality with a stylish appearance and the high-quality craftsmanship you can expect from Unico. The distinctive curved shape of the Modena side panel clearly sets it apart from traditional straight side panels, while making optimal use of the available space next to your caravan.

The Unico Modena is available in several versions: a fully enclosed side panel without a window, a side panel with a window and a more luxurious De Luxe side panel. The system can also be combined with various front panels. This allows you to easily transform an open cassette awning into a comfortable and more sheltered camping area.

The Unico Modena is therefore an ideal addition for campers who want to retain the convenience and flexibility of a cassette awning while enjoying greater comfort, better protection and additional living space around their caravan during their stay.

One of the main advantages of the Unico Modena Side Panel is its unique curved design. While traditional side panels extend almost straight down from the cassette awning, the Modena curves outwards. Combined with its attachment via the caravan’s awning rail, this creates approximately one metre of additional usable width on each side. If you install a Modena side panel on both sides of your cassette awning, this provides a total of approximately two metres of additional front width.

When the Unico Modena is combined with a front panel, you also benefit from a surprising amount of living space and freedom of movement. With a cassette awning that extends 250 cm, the Modena with a fitted front panel can provide an impressive depth of up to 280 cm. This creates a spacious and comfortable camping area beneath the awning, with plenty of room for camping chairs, a table and other camping equipment.

The distinctive curved design of the Unico Modena Side Panel not only provides additional living space but also offers a practical advantage when it comes to the caravan windows. As the side panel curves outwards, it does not sit directly in front of the caravan windows. This ensures that the caravan windows remain accessible and fully functional, even when the Modena side panels are completely installed.

Access to the caravan’s service hatch has also been carefully considered. The Unico Modena Side Panel features a convenient zippered connecting triangle. This allows the service hatch to remain easily accessible without having to detach the entire side panel. A practical feature that provides extra convenience, especially when staying at the same campsite for an extended period.

The Unico Modena Side Panel easily slides into the caravan’s awning rail. This allows the awning fabric to fit neatly against the caravan, creating a virtually draught-free connection. No pressure poles are required with this system, making installation easier and ensuring a neat finish along the caravan wall.

The absence of pressure poles also provides additional protection for your caravan. With traditional side panels, pressure poles can press against the caravan’s body panels or windows, potentially causing marks or signs of wear over time. With the Unico Modena, this is not necessary. There is no need to position pressure poles or abrasive awning fabric against the caravan’s exterior, allowing you to enjoy a neat and caravan-friendly connection.

Both Unico Modena side panels come equipped with practical wind blockers as standard. These provide additional protection against the wind and help make the space beneath your cassette awning more comfortable. Even when the wind picks up at the campsite, you can continue to enjoy a pleasant and sheltered seating area beneath your awning.

The combination of wind blockers, the neat connection via the caravan’s awning rail and the distinctive curved design makes the Unico Modena much more than just a simple side panel for a cassette awning. The system provides additional shelter, comfort and usable living space around your caravan.

The Unico Modena Side Panels come with removable mud flaps as standard along the bottom. The mud flap is the lower section of the awning fabric and sits directly at or on the ground. As a result, this part is most likely to come into contact with sand, mud and splashing water while camping.

As the mud flaps are easily removable, they can be cleaned separately without any difficulty. This makes maintaining the Unico Modena side panels much easier. During a short stay or when travelling from one campsite to another with your caravan, you can also choose to leave the mud flaps off. This allows you to easily adapt your Modena setup to the duration and conditions of your camping stop.

Within the Unico Modena range, you can choose from three different side panel versions. This allows you to decide how much natural light, privacy and ventilation you want beneath your cassette awning. Each version has its own features and can be tailored to suit your camping style.

• Unico Modena Side Panel Without Window: a fully enclosed side panel that provides excellent privacy and additional protection against the weather.
• Unico Modena Side Panel With Window: the large window allows more natural light beneath the cassette awning and provides a clear view outside. The inside of this version is prepared for an optional privacy cover or curtain set.
• Unico Modena De Luxe Side Panel: the most comprehensive version, featuring a window with an internal zippered privacy cover. This side panel also includes a closable ventilation panel, allowing you to easily increase airflow whenever needed.

If you want more control over the indoor climate beneath your cassette awning, the Unico Modena De Luxe Side Panel is the most comprehensive version. This model features a removable zip-out side panel with a window and a closable ventilation panel. The window is equipped with an internal zippered privacy cover, allowing you to easily create more privacy whenever desired.

The closable ventilation panel provides a practical way to ensure additional ventilation beneath your cassette awning. This helps create a pleasant and comfortable environment, especially when the cassette awning is largely enclosed with Unico Modena side panels and front panels.

For the Unico Modena Side Panels, Unico uses high-quality Ten Cate All Season awning fabric. This durable fabric is combined with strong PVC-coated Bisonyl fabric along the lower section. Choosing a robust material for the bottom of the side panel is particularly important, as this area regularly comes into contact with moisture, dirt and splashing water around the campsite.

Strong and durable materials have also been selected for the construction of the Unico Modena. The curved support pole and roof poles are made from thick-walled aluminium measuring 30 x 1.4 mm. This gives the structure a solid and stable design while maintaining the practical ease of use you would expect from an extension for a cassette awning.

A Thule or Fiamma cassette awning is a practical choice for campers who value convenience and want to quickly create a dry and sheltered area next to their caravan. By extending your cassette awning with Unico Modena side panels, you can significantly increase the usable living space around your caravan while benefiting from additional shelter.

Would you like to enclose the space beneath your cassette awning even further? The Unico Modena can be expanded with matching Modena front panels. These front panels are easily attached at the top using a beading strip and are available in eight different front widths: 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425, 450 and 500 cm. This allows you to choose the Modena extension that best matches the dimensions of your cassette awning.

The Unico Modena can be further customised with various accessories to suit your caravan and personal camping style. This allows you to enhance the side panels and front panel for additional comfort, privacy and protection during your stay at the campsite.

The following accessories are available for the Unico Modena:

• Draught skirt: helps reduce draughts beneath the caravan and provides a better seal around the living area.
• Wheel arch cover: available in straight, rounded and rounded padded versions for a neat enclosure around the caravan wheel.
• Storm strap kit: provides additional support and stability during less favourable weather conditions.
• Privacy cover: offers additional privacy and allows you to cover the window when needed.
• Curtain set for the front panel: provides extra privacy and creates a cosy atmosphere in the enclosed space beneath the cassette awning.

A cassette awning with side panels and front panels provides significantly more shelter and comfort around your caravan, but it is not the same as a full caravan awning. Under certain conditions, the PVC roof of a cassette awning can cause condensation to form, resulting in water droplets on the inside of the roof.

With the Unico Modena De Luxe side panels, the indoor climate beneath the cassette awning can be improved thanks to the additional ventilation options. According to Unico, these ventilation features provide greater comfort when the space is largely enclosed. However, the ventilation and overall living comfort are not as optimal as those of a Unico caravan awning with a detachable front canopy.

The Unico Modena has been developed as a practical extension for a Thule or Fiamma cassette awning. By adding side panels and, if desired, a front panel, you can easily create more shelter and living space around your caravan. However, to make the right product choice, it is important to consider the limitations of use specified by Unico for this system.

• A cassette awning with front and side panels offers less stability than a full Unico caravan awning.
• The combination of a cassette awning with Unico Modena side and front panels is not suitable for seasonal use.
• Under certain conditions, condensation may form on a PVC awning roof, causing water droplets to develop on the inside of the roof.

Not every caravan is automatically suitable for the Unico Modena. Especially with caravans that have an aerodynamic shape or a roof with an angled section, it is important to carefully check whether the system will fit before purchasing. If the shape of the caravan prevents the Thule or Fiamma cassette awning from being installed across the full front width, the Unico Modena may not be suitable for your caravan.

Carefully checking the dimensions of your caravan and cassette awning is therefore essential before choosing the Unico Modena side panels and an optional front panel. This allows you to determine in advance whether the different components will fit correctly and helps prevent you from selecting a version that is unsuitable for your caravan.

To determine whether the Unico Modena fits your caravan and Thule or Fiamma cassette awning correctly, it is important to take accurate measurements beforehand. Four different measurements are used to check the dimensions of the Modena: dimensions D, E, F and G.

• Dimension D: the length of the caravan, measured at a height of 200 cm.
• Dimension E: the height of the caravan’s awning rail.
• Dimension F: the total length of the cassette awning.
• Dimension G: the horizontal distance between the vertical line extending down from the cassette awning and the caravan’s awning rail, measured at a height of 200 cm.

These measurements are essential for checking whether the distinctive curved structure of the Unico Modena fits the shape and dimensions of your caravan correctly. By carefully measuring dimensions D, E, F and G, you can better determine whether the Unico Modena side panels are suitable for your combination of caravan and cassette awning.
