Unico Modena Front Panel While a cassette awning on its own mainly provides a quick, dry and sheltered entrance, the Modena front panel and matching side panels allow you to transform it into a much more enclosed and surprisingly spacious camping area.

The Unico Modena Front Panel has been specially developed for campers who want to enjoy more comfort and living space with their Thule or Fiamma cassette awning. A cassette awning on its own quickly provides a dry and sheltered area next to your caravan, but when combined with the Modena front panel and matching side panels, it creates a much more enclosed and surprisingly spacious camping area. This allows you to retain the convenience of your existing cassette awning while benefiting from additional shelter, greater privacy and significantly more usable living space.

The Unico Modena stands out thanks to the clever combination of the front panel and its distinctive curved side panels. These Modena side panels curve outwards and connect neatly to the caravan via the awning rail. As a result, the space directly beneath the cassette awning is not only enclosed, but additional usable space is also created across the width. This makes the Unico Modena a practical solution for campers who want to enjoy more space and comfort beneath their Thule or Fiamma cassette awning.

To ensure that the Unico Modena Front Panel fits a wide range of Thule and Fiamma cassette awnings, it is available in no fewer than eight different front widths. You can choose from 300, 325, 350, 375, 400, 425, 450 and 500 cm. This means there is a suitable Modena front panel available for various cassette awning sizes.

The size of the Unico Modena Front Panel you need depends on several factors, including the length and model of your Thule or Fiamma cassette awning. Before making your choice, carefully check not only the dimensions and shape of your caravan, but also the exact type and size of the cassette awning installed on your caravan. This will help you determine which front width is best suited to your specific setup.

The layout of the Unico Modena Front Panel is designed to suit the selected front width. The 300 cm version features one window and a practical repositionable door panel. The window panel can also be completely zipped out, allowing you to easily adapt the front panel to your needs.

If you choose a Unico Modena Front Panel in 325, 350, 375, 400, 425, 450 or 500 cm, the front panel features two windows and a repositionable door panel. The window panel can also be zipped out in these versions. This gives you a flexible layout and allows you to open up or enclose the space beneath your Thule or Fiamma cassette awning according to your preferences.

The repositionable door panel offers additional flexibility when arranging your camping area. It allows you to position the entrance to better suit the layout beneath your cassette awning and the available space on your camping pitch. This makes the Unico Modena Front Panel both practical and versatile to use.

All Unico Modena front panels are easily attached at the top using a beading strip. The beading is the thickened edge of the awning fabric that slides into the designated rail of the cassette awning. This creates a neat and secure connection between the Unico Modena Front Panel and the cassette awning.

When combined with the matching Unico Modena side panels, the front panel creates a fully integrated enclosure around the space beneath the awning. This provides significantly more shelter and comfort than an open Thule or Fiamma cassette awning alone. At the same time, you retain the practical convenience of your cassette awning, as the Modena system has been specifically developed for this type of awning.

The compatibility between the Unico Modena Front Panel and a Thule or Fiamma cassette awning depends on the selected front width. According to Unico’s product information, the different Modena front panels are compatible with the following cassette awning models:

Before purchasing, always carefully check the exact model and size of the cassette awning installed on your caravan. This will help you determine which Unico Modena Front Panel is suitable for your Thule or Fiamma cassette awning.

The clever and spacious design of the Modena truly comes into its own when combined with the Unico Modena side panels. Thanks to their distinctive curved shape and the connection of the side panels via the caravan’s awning rail, approximately one metre of additional usable width is created on each side. When a Modena side panel is installed on both sides, this provides a total of approximately two metres of additional front width.

The Unico Modena with Front Panel also offers a surprising amount of space in terms of depth. With a cassette awning that extends 250 cm, the Modena with the front panel installed can provide an impressive depth of up to 280 cm. This creates a spacious and comfortable camping area with greater freedom of movement and plenty of room for a camping table, chairs and other camping equipment.

The Unico Modena Front Panel can be combined with three different versions of the Modena side panel. This allows you to customise the space beneath your cassette awning to suit your camping preferences and decide how much natural light, privacy and ventilation you want. This makes it easy to create a Modena setup that perfectly suits your camping style.

Another practical advantage of the Unico Modena side panels is that no pressure poles are required to connect them to the caravan. With traditional systems, these poles can press against the caravan’s body panels or windows, potentially causing marks or signs of wear over time. The Modena eliminates this need, and there is no need to press abrasive awning fabric against the caravan’s exterior. This creates a neat and caravan-friendly connection.

The Unico Modena is made from high-quality, durable materials specifically selected for intensive camping use. The curved support pole and roof poles are made from thick-walled aluminium measuring 30 x 1.4 mm. This sturdy aluminium construction provides a solid foundation, combining stability with practical ease of use.

The roof and side panels of the Unico Modena are made from Ten Cate All Season awning fabric. The lower sections are made from strong PVC-coated Bisonyl fabric. This ensures that the areas closest to the ground are made from a robust material designed to withstand the conditions commonly encountered on a campsite.

Would you like to make the space behind the Unico Modena Front Panel more comfortable and create greater privacy? Several optional accessories are available to help you achieve this. Optional curtain sets are available for the Modena front panel in sizes 300 to 375 cm and 400 to 500 cm. These allow you to easily cover the windows whenever you want more privacy.

There are also options for creating additional privacy with the Unico Modena Side Panel with Window. An optional privacy cover is available for this version. If you choose the more luxurious Unico Modena De Luxe Side Panel, the window comes with a zippered privacy cover on the inside as standard. This allows you to easily cover the window whenever desired.

In addition to the Unico Modena front and side panels, the system can be expanded with various practical accessories. These allow you to create a more complete enclosure around your caravan and further customise the space beneath your cassette awning to suit your camping needs. Draught skirts are available for fitting along the bottom of the caravan in sizes 06 to 9.1, 10 to 13.1 and 14 to 17. If required, a customised draught skirt is also available.

For a neat fit around the caravan wheel, Unico offers several types of wheel arch covers. You can choose from a straight wheel arch cover, a rounded wheel arch cover or a rounded padded wheel arch cover. A storm strap kit is also available for the Unico Modena, providing additional support for the system during less favourable weather conditions.

Although the Unico Modena front and side panels create a significantly more enclosed and sheltered camping area, a cassette awning with front and side panels is still a different system from a full caravan awning. It is therefore important to consider the characteristics and limitations of a cassette awning when choosing the Modena.

One important difference is the PVC roof of the cassette awning. Under certain conditions, condensation may form, causing water droplets to develop on the inside of the roof. By combining the Unico Modena with De Luxe side panels, you benefit from additional ventilation options, which can help improve the indoor climate of the enclosed space. However, according to Unico, the comfort and ventilation options are not as optimal as those of a Unico caravan awning with a detachable front canopy.

When using the Unico Modena front and side panels in combination with a cassette awning, it is important to consider the following characteristics and limitations:

• A cassette awning with front and side panels offers less stability than a full Unico caravan awning.
• The Unico Modena in combination with a cassette awning is not suitable for seasonal use.
• Under certain conditions, condensation may form on the PVC roof of a cassette awning, causing water droplets to develop on the inside of the roof.

Especially with aerodynamically shaped caravans, it is important to carefully check in advance whether the Unico Modena is suitable. Does your caravan have an aerodynamic shape or a roof with an angled section that prevents the Thule or Fiamma cassette awning from being installed across the full front width of the caravan? If so, the Unico Modena may not fit correctly and may therefore be unsuitable for your caravan.

Carefully checking the dimensions of your caravan and cassette awning is therefore essential before choosing the Unico Modena front and side panels. By checking the correct measurements and the shape of your caravan beforehand, you can avoid selecting a combination that does not fit properly with your caravan and cassette awning.

To determine whether the Unico Modena fits your caravan and Thule or Fiamma cassette awning correctly, it is important to check the required measurements beforehand. Unico’s documentation specifies four important measurements for this purpose: dimensions D, E, F and G.

• Dimension D: the length of the caravan, measured at a height of 200 cm.
• Dimension E: the height of the caravan’s awning rail.
• Dimension F: the total length of the cassette awning.
• Dimension G: the horizontal distance between the vertical line extending down from the cassette awning and the caravan’s awning rail, measured at a height of 200 cm.

By carefully measuring dimensions D, E, F and G beforehand, you can determine whether the Unico Modena is suitable for your combination of caravan and cassette awning. These measurements also help you select the correct front width of the Unico Modena Front Panel, ensuring that the front and side panels fit properly against your caravan and cassette awning.
